Who We Are

The Roy White Foundation

We provide financial assistance to young adults and children whose desire to further their education is inhibited by financial complications. It is our mission to help these individuals pursue their dreams and aspirations by easing the frustrating burden of monetary obligations.

Respect and decency are key attributes of Roy White, who played for 15 straight seasons with the New York Yankees and achieved many milestones during his outstanding professional career. His success as a professional ballplayer serves as a testament to the power of dedication.

Growing up poor in one of the tougher communities of Los Angeles, his aspiration to one-day play professional baseball was achieved through a rapacious desire to obtain knowledge and education, in order to present his best to the world.

What We Do

Through programs like Books for Baseball and The Roy White Scholarship Award, The Roy White Foundation aims to teach young adults and children the benefits of self-sufficiency. Through its efforts, the Foundation hopes to demonstrate that the best way to achieve distant goals is by maintaining good values and never giving up hope. The Foundation will also help educate student athletes on the importance of continuing and completing their education, so that they are well prepared to enter the business world or any career path they choose to pursue.

It is our goal to provide scholarship grants each year to as many high school graduates as we can possibly help so that no student is ever denied the chance to further their education. It is our intent to make the Roy White Foundation one of the leading Scholarship-Grant providers for assisting students with financial needs in the pursuit of higher education. The Foundation will also help educate student athletes on the importance of continuing and completing their education, so that they are well prepared to enter the business world or any career path they choose.

Since the beginning of the program in 2002, The Roy White Foundation has awarded Scholarship Grants to high school student athletes in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Roy White Career Highlights

A popular Yankee in their modern history, Roy White was both an excellent hitter and a great defensive player. He had many subtle, momentous achievements during an incredible 15-year tenure as a Bronx Bomber and is highly ranked amongst Yankee greats in almost all the relevant offensive and defensive categories. Here are some great clips of #6, “old reliable” in those familiar pinstripes.

Events

Roy White Events

The Roy White Foundation hosts fund-raising events in a unique range of styles. In addition to benefit dinners and live sports memorabilia auctions, RWF has also held charity golf outings and sponsored live concert events from performers such as Jay Black and Dana Fuchs. Here are some photos from select events.

2017 Concert

Dana Fuchs is a phenomenon, a singer whose mesmerizing voice and presence has led critics to compare her to Rock Legends from Janis to Jagger. Fittingly, she appeared in the off-Broadway production, Love, Janis. The multi-talented singer-songwriter stars as, Sadie, in the cult classic, Sony Pictures Beatles musical, Across The Universe, where she has a major presence both in the film, and on the platinum selling soundtrack. Perhaps Stereophile Magazine said it best, "Imagine a sultry, more emotive Janis Joplin, backed by a higher energy version of the late 60’s Rolling Stones…Rock n’ Roll doesn’t get any better."
